Workshops
Music and the Deaf runs
training workshops and INSET days across the
Music and the Deaf runs workshops and activity days for deaf people of all ages in schools, Deaf centres and other venues. These can cover an introduction to music, through rhythm games and exploring instruments to composing a piece of music and learning some signed songs. We also include other arts forms including dance, drama and art.
Typically, a workshop will begin with some games then will introduce a theme for the day, spend some time working in groups, have some more games and end with a performance or sharing of the work created.
We have run joint workshops with orchestras, dance, opera and theatre companies and this year have led vocal workshops in deaf schools with members of The Sixteen
"We all loved the singing workshop, it really opened the children's eyes - thank you so much."
"We played some games and all laughed. We did enjoy it."
Workshops can take place with small or large groups. Towards the end of the summer term we are often asked to lead music days for entire hearing-impaired services which are great fun.
