Music
Leader is a support and networking service dedicated to the professional
development of UK music leaders. Funded by Youth Music it provides advice
and training at national and regional levels, and "Music and the Deaf" has
been involved since Music Leader began.
In
conjunction with Music Leader Yorkshire and Music Leader North West we ran a
training course over 9 months for musicians who wanted to develop skills in
working with deaf people. Using a mixture or specific training sessions and
placements about 15 students had the chance to learn about making music with
deaf people in a range of settings and it was a valuable experience for all.
We plan
to run this initial course again in the future but are now looking at more
detailed training for a small number of musicians. Please contact Clare
